Recently, the 2025 Australian Broking Awards recognised In Financial Services’ own mortgage broker Ben Harris and named him “one to watch” for his outstanding work helping first home buyers and young property investors.
Local mortgage broker Ben Harris from In Financial Services in Newcastle/Maitland won the Rising Star of the Year at the prestigious 2025 Australian Broking Awards. The ceremony took place in Sydney on Friday 29th August 2025.
In addition, leaders from across the mortgage and finance industry judged the national award, recognising the most promising talent in Australian broking.
At just 28 years old, Ben accepted the award in front of more than 700 industry professionals. The Adviser also recognised him as “one to watch.”
Ben began his career in 2020 by joining the family business his mother, Janine Harris, founded in Maitland in 2001. Since then, he’s helped grow In Financial Services from a single office into a regional network now serving Maitland, Newcastle, the Central Coast, and Forster.
Most importantly, what makes Ben’s approach stand out is his passion for financial education. As a result, through TikToks, podcasts, and social media content, he’s helped hundreds of young people in regional NSW understand the home-buying process.
I don’t see this award as something that’s just about me,
Ben said.
To me, this proves that leading with heart, showing up for your clients and committing to your local community really does make a difference.
Over the past year, Ben has overseen major business growth. He has also introduced innovative client-first technology systems and built partnerships with local buyer’s agents and wellbeing professionals. Together, these initiatives deliver holistic, long-term financial support for young regional Australians.
I started as a young tradie in the mines,
he added.
Now I get to help people like I was, with a good job but no clue how to build a future. I want to show them they can achieve home ownership and build long-term wealth.
Ultimately, Ben hopes his story encourages others in regional areas to strive for excellence in their own careers. After all, success doesn’t only happen in major cities.
